As a former business owner I undertook building out our offices and lead in that project. I enjoyed doing it and when presented with an opportunity to do it as a profession, I knew it was a good match.

Early in my career as a builder I was responsible for the construction of the new corporate office for Integrated Health Services, a rapidly growing health care firm. On completion of the project I went to work for IHS where I became responsible for the development, design and construction of new medical specialty units at healthcare facilities throughout the eastern US.

Reconstruction at the Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, GA following direct hit by an F2 tornado.

I’ve always had an interest in real estate. I love going to open houses and just checking out new properties being built. I was born in Olongapo, Philippines but came to America when I was only 3 months old! I was raised in Silver Spring, MD in my earlier years and eventually moved to Gaithersburg, MD.

I’ve been expanding my knowledge of project management ever since.

At Real Projectives, one of the apartment buildings. A client purchased a not-quite-completed apartment building that needed interior and exterior completion. In addition, the client wanted to have residents immediately occupy the building during punch list completion, and also wanted to do various interior and exterior upgrades. Many parties were involved and coordination was challenging.

I entered the real estate industry, indirectly, by way of hospitality, and subsequently, through multi-family and mixed use management. I find the real estate/project management industry to be exciting and challenging– I am stimulated by the problems inevitably encountered in realizing a project’s design, and love solving these problems, and seeing buildings go up because of my contributions.

What was your most memorable project?
The 21 story, $400M Mary Catherine Bunting Center at Mercy Hospital. It was an amazing collaboration with the Owner, the Contractor and the Designer (me) to tackle an immense urban redevelopment project that transformed a portion of downtown Baltimore.
How and why did you enter the real estate/project management industry?
Real Estate development was something that always drew my attention and when I had the opportunity to pursue a degree in that field, I took it. That degree opened up my world, where I was fortunate enough to be hired to develop affordable housing. Affordable housing gave me the development experience I craved and needed, but also opened up my eyes to an entire new world of public purpose investment which shapes my development goals to this day.

Where do you currently live?
Riverside Community in Baltimore, the greatest city in America.
What is your favorite music group?
I am an avid Phish fan, and it goes beyond music, but also community. There are so many layers of enjoyment that come with Phish that it’s hard to describe. The discussions, debates, statistics, memories of different shows and friends you meet. Phish fans are some of the most thoughtful and cerebral people I have ever met.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Anywhere there is snow, a mountain and a ski lift.

Our family adopted a pit/pointer mix from our local shelter. She is the best behaved, sweetest, most loving creature in the world.
